Patrick grew up in Southern California and began playing guitar and writing songs in high school and often played on the Huntington Beach pier with his buddies. His styles have evolved over the past 35 years to include blues, singer/songwriter, folk, rock, bluegrass, and country. Patrick played guitar and bass in several Southern California bands including Moving Violations and The Fabulous Kings before relocating to Spokane in 1990. Since moving to the Pacific Northwest he has performed with Dead Flowers, Laffin’ Bones, and as a duo with keyboardist and buddy, Rory Marrero. After establishing himself, Patrick enlisted several of his musician friends to play on his first solo CD. Released in 2000 and titled after a wood sculpture he created, Jombo Schlondorf featured all original songs.
For 12 years, he was a member of the popular Northwest rhythm and bluegrass band, Big Red Barn, playing upright bass and acting as one of the lead vocalists. The band’s second CD was released in 2013 titled “Barn Again.” In 2005, their first CD release, “Big Red Barn,” received critical praise for its unique instrumentation and strong musicianship.
In March of 2015, Patrick and his bride, Shelley, took a leap of faith and hit the road in a 23 foot class C RV with their rescue pup, Iggy, to check out the American Southwest. Along the way, he had the opportunity to book a number of solo gigs, as well as play with other touring musicians. The couple landed in New Mexico for a few months and Patrick performed in Eagle Nest and Santa Fe.
In early 2016, Patrick and Shelley's road led them to their new shared career as Innkeepers. Relocating to the the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia, and the Mountain Rose Inn, Patrick serenaded guests around the campfire on starry summer nights. In March of 2017, Patrick and Shelley made their way back to New Mexico to manage the beautiful Hacienda del Sol Bed and Breakfast. Patrick was able to entertain guests at the Hacienda with Taos Mountain as his spectacular backdrop. Then, in March 2018, a kind of circle was completed as Patrick and Shelley made their way back to Washington state to be the innkeepers at The Harrison House Suites and Tucker House Inn in Friday Harbor. Here you will find Patrick sharing music with guests outside on the deck or inside the Tucker House living room when the weather cools down.
Patrick plans to re-release a music CD of past original songs (along with a few new ones) in the near future.
